Associate DVM, days
As a little girl growing up in New York, Dr. Mendez always knew she would become a veterinarian. She had an array of pets growing up, from Snoopy the hamster to Cookie the family dog. As a doctor she loves being there for her clients and patients and making them feel better.
Dr. Mendez graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. She attended Cornell University where she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Before joining our team, she worked at a large veterinary practice in Northern California.
While living in California she started her own business dealing with behavioral pet problems. She believes that behavior problems are just as important as medical problems and works hard to help many of our troubled patients back on the road to good behavior! Dr. Mendez holds monthly puppy parties, as well as puppy classes to help socialize young pups and to get them used to the hospital environment. “Puppy classes are the most important thing you can do with your new puppy.”
When she’s not attending to our patients here at the hospital, you may find her cooking, reading, or playing her ukulele for her family. Her husband Dan and their daughter Leila love the beach and if the waves are good, you just may see the entire family surfing down at the pier!
